About this Poetry Community

This is an online community website that is targeted at poets as well as others who enjoy the written word or have similar interests. This is a feature that Word Salad Poetry Magazine is sponsoring, along with Future Wave Web Development and Web Design, the hosting and web development company that supports this community.

In order to contribute to the Community, please take a moment to Register/Join the Community.

To join us, click on "Register/Join the Community" from the menu on the left.  You will be asked for a name, username, email and password.  Then you will be sent an email message with a link to click on to confirm your email and your membership.  That's it... you are a part of the community.  Nothing is required, per se, to be a part of this community.  Take what you can and offer what you have.

Why Join Our Community?Book with Question mark

We are interested in a growing community of creative persons, persons with some interest in poetry. As a member of this community, you will have access to a variety of features and most importantly, you can help shape this community into something you would want to see or experience.  To start this community and help it grow, I setup a few different sections and categories.  I did this so that when you post content, it will show up on the menu items.  This means that if you post a web link or an article, some news, an announcement, or etc. it will be associated with something on the menu, automatically.

When you select from the Menu, "Post News, Information or Articles on the site," it asks you to select a section and then a category within the section.  So, if you choose Section: "News and Announcements" and Category "News" your article or news will appear from the menu item labeled "News."

Let us know if you see other areas that we could expand upon what we are offering.

This site was begun by Bruce Whealton, co-editor and publisher of Word Salad Poetry Magazine. Bruce Whealton is the owner of Future Wave Designs - a company providing web development and web design services.

I want to invite all visitors to consider joining the community.

There is a link on the left menu to register/Join the community. It is a very quick process. You'll get an email with a link to confirm your registration.

This Poet's Place - Poet's community - will grow as people continue to join the community and continue to submit stories, articles, news, information and more. When you join that site, you will be assigned the permission level of Publisher. This allows you to submit articles, news, announcements, your web links, and essays. I setup things with those categories, which can be modified if desired.

If you have a web site that you want to share, join the community and there is a place on the menu where you can click and enter the web link. It will ask you for a category for your web site link. The current options are Poetry Magazines/zines, Resources for Poets and Writes, Poetry Forums and General Poetry websites.

Similarly, when you submit a story, article, news or announcement, there will be a place where you can select a section and a category for your article, news, announcement or etc. Based on your selection, your posting will appear on one of the menu items, e.g. News will show up under the News menu item, etc.

I hope you all will join and let me know how and if I can improve the site any.
Thanks so much,
Bruce - administrator
Also, note, if you want to become an administrator, just let me know.  You are certainly not under any obligation to take on that kind of role.

Hello and thank you for joining the Poet's Place website at: http://WordSaladPoetryMagazine.com/PoetsPlace/
I set this up as a community site for poets, publishers of poetry and others that appreciate the written word and poetry.  I wanted your opinions as to what kinds of features we could have on this site.  We have a list of publications and that certainly can be expanded.

We can accept news items, announcements, information and more.  Just login at the site.  I guess I need to add a menu link to allow you to submit articles.  I would like to ask for volunteers of people who would help approve articles and other submissions, and to decide how and where to publish things.  It's not that hard.  We need a site editor/publisher, whichever title you prefer, because people come to sites on the web all the time and submit or post things that are not appropriate at all.  If you are getting this, then you are a trusted member of this site.  I did have spammers and others joining the site with fake emails and placing advertisements - very inappropriate ads.  At the time of sending this message, I've removed those members.

Note, it is hoped that all members of this site will find a great deal of value from this community.  You don't have to take on an administrative role to submit and publish content on here. I don't want to come across as trying to talk any of you into taking on an administrative role here.

As a shared community site, we just want to be sure that what appears on this site is of value and is appropriate(meaning it isn't spam) and also we need to find the best way to organize and present the content that is submitted.  So, if you'd be willing to do so, I'd invite you to let me know if you'd be willing to help with this, and assume an administrative role.  It won't take a great deal of time, just checking into the site from time to time.  Meanwhile, all of you are welcome to use the site and if you'd like submit articles or information.  When I say that you can submit "articles," well that is just a term that is used in this software application - the application that was used to create this site.  An "article" can be almost anything, from poems, to news, announcements and more. It is any text that you would post on the site.

We can have other features here and we can include graphics as well.  I'll discuss that further in a subsequent email, so as to not make this too long.  Or just ask me about that.
Thanks so much for joining,
Bruce - site admin

About Word Salad Poetry MagazineBubbles - indicating speaking

This site here is a community site for poets and writers. It is sponsored by Word Salad Poetry Magazine, so it makes sense to begin by describing Word Salad Poetry Magazine. Note, we will list other poetry places on the web.

Word Salad Poetry Magazine has been in publication on the web since 1995. Word Salad seeks to give talented poets a place to see their creations in publication. It is quick and easy to use the submission forms to send us your poems. We typically publish less than ten-percent of what we receive in submissions.

Word Salad has remained a free publication on the web since 1995. While we are free and the submission process is more simple than with print publications, we do not sacrifice on quality. We publish only poems with high creative and literary merit. We are proud of the fact that online web-based publications are seeing the same recognition from literary establishment as the more traditional print publications.

word salad
–noun incoherent speech consisting of both real and imaginary words, lacking comprehensive meaning, and occurring in advanced schizophrenic states. The complete citation for this definitiion is as follows: American Psychological Association (APA): word salad. (n.d.). WordNet® 3.0. Retrieved April 14, 2008, from Dictionary.com website: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/word salad

Bruce Whealton writes, "I once told a writer for the Wilmington Star News, that I liked that name because, when I was back in elementary school, I suppose that is what I felt about poetry. Poetry, at one point, at such a young age, seemed incoherent. I also have a background of interest in the psychological field.
